Eric Wood Brings Smiles and Gifts to Oishei Children’s Hospital

Buffalo, NY – Children at Oishei Children’s Hospital got a big surprise this past week when Eric Wood stopped by to bring smiles and gifts to the children and patients. Wood stopped by to visit with kids and families to connect with them and provide gifts for the children and gift cards to Walmart to the parents.

Part of the reason Wood visited was because of his work on The Evan Wood Fund, formerly the Eric Wood Fund. This is a critically important resource for the patients and families at Oishei Children’s Hospital. Funds raised have an immediate, positive impact on the comfort and care of chronically ill children and their families. We are proud to partner with Eric Wood to enhance vital services provided through the Family Resource Center, Child Life, and Stone’s Buddies Program. Eric knows firsthand the importance of children’s hospitals and the heavy burden carried by a family who must face the serious health issues of a child which is why he chose to name his fund after his brother Evan.

It wasn’t just Wood making an impact on the children and their families but them making an impact on him. “It brings me joy to try to uplift the families going through an extremely tough time in their life,” Wood shared “The perspective you gain during those visits is irreplaceable and I forgot how impactful it is since I haven’t been able to visit the hospital since pre-COVID.”  Wood said that when he received a hug from a young girl with down syndrome who is suffering from cancer, it was one of the most powerful hugs of his entire life. “She has a joy about her through circumstances that would crumble most people. That to me was so impactful to experience.”
